Define the shipment before shopping for price
Record the origin, destination, item descriptions, quantities, values, and packed measurements. Decide whether you need end-to-end tracking, proof of delivery, or cover. An inexpensive service that does not provide a required feature may not fit the shipment.
Check whether the item can travel
Confirm the chosen carrier’s destination restrictions and current service availability before paying. Ask about any special requirements for the actual contents. A country-directory listing is a place to find resources; it is not confirmation that your parcel is admissible.
Compare responsibility for import charges
Ask the carrier which costs the quote includes and who will be responsible for any import or clearance amounts. Do not assume that a shipping price includes every charge the recipient could face. Use the destination authority for current rules rather than an old blog price table.
Compare equivalent service levels
Use the same shipment and shipping date for every quote. Note the route-specific estimate, tracking coverage, delivery partner, and collection arrangement. Keep different currencies separate unless you have a documented exchange rate and conversion date.
Give the recipient a usable handoff
Share the dispatch confirmation and original tracking number through your normal order process. If the carrier supplies a local delivery number later, keep both references. A lower-cost service can have different tracking visibility; ask about that before you choose it.
